Laminate Flooring is constructed just as the name suggests

It is laminated in layers: Most times with an attached pad, then a filler material of a wood based nature, then a print layer that gives it the color and look of the wood it is designed to imitate, This layer can also be embossed, or embossed in register. Embossed means that surface is indented to give it a more realistic characteristics of wood. Embossed in register means that the indented areas follow the lines of the wood grain print giving it even a more realistic wood look. Then the actual wear layer or laminate layer gives the flooring the hard scratch resistant surface.
